I was willing to take a loss on a current project in hopes of establishing a working relationship with a company (and I let them know ahead of time that they were getting a deal for that very reason). Consequently, I think I made an error in not placing well-defined limits on the amount of work I’m asked to do (the fault is entirely mine, not the client’s). While I hope they appreciate the work I’m putting into this project, I’ll be expecting and asking for appropriate compensation the next time around.
Well put together. I often wonder where the line that divides freely advertising our talent for exposure and “selling ourselves short”, begins.
